Mushroom Wand Craft

Hello, my magical friends!! Ready to make another amazing craft??

Let’s make a Magical Mushroom Wand!!!!

First thing’s first: Let’s grab our materials!! We have the perfect assortment of papers, ribbons, and tools to help us make something Magical!

Here at Art and Happiness we have a very handy tool- the Die Cut Machine!! It has hundreds of shapes to cut out for all kinds of crafty goodness!

We are going to use #216, the circle and scalloped circle!

If you’re in the shop and want to use the Die Cut machine, ask one of us to show you how best to use it- then use any paper you’d like!

Now that we have our Circles cut, we’ll to a bit of a trick to turn the flat circle into a rounded mushroom top!

Grab some scissors and cut up one quarter of the circle to the very center, just so that it opens up like a Pac-man! Fold this over the opposing side and glue it down. Now it has a slight curve!

While we’re at it, lets punch out some white dots for our mushroom cap!

Glue these all over and trim the edges if there are any over lapping dots.

Grab the scalloped circle and a pen! Let’s mark up the scalloped circle to look like the gills of a mushroom, drawing lines almost- but not completely- to the center!

This mini-hole punch is the perfect tool to help us with the next step! Punch a hole in the very center and then grab a skewer, and gently push it through to open the hole to skewer-size!

Take it apart again and clip the pointy tip off the skewer! We don’t need an accidental mushroom sword- we’re making a wand!

Thread the skewer back through and add hot glue again and carefully add a dollop to the inside of our mushroom. Squish the top and bottom together and hold it until it dries!

Now it is time to choose our favorite ribbons!

There is an entire ribbon rack here at Art and Happiness, with so many to choose from!

Here’s a few I’ve picked for my own! My most favorite is the green leaf ribbon!

We’ll tie these individually to the skewer and slide them down to the cap! Use a little hot glue to help hold them down.

Now for the stem! Roll a rectangle of textweight paper around a skewer, then unroll it! We’ll roll it up again but slightly strewn to make a cone shape. Put hot glue along the skewer and slide the cone-shaped stem up, gluing it to itself!

Oh, how much fun was that!! You can make so many kinds of Magical Mushroom Wands!

Maybe you’re throwing a mushroom party? Or a whimsical day in the woods? Or even just need a new wand to add to the collection of your favorite spellcaster!

You can always come in to Art and Happiness and gather all you need to make your most magical creations!!

Can’t wait to see you soon!!

Have so MUSH fun creating crafts, and always feel free to send us a pic of what you’re making! We would LOVE to see your art!
